2008 Pig Sale

Saturday was our very 1st Private Treaty Show Pig Sale on our farm. We had about 30 people that came and several more over cell phones. It turned out great for our 1st sale. Thank you to Grandma Terry for all the food and helping with the sale, Grampa Mike for being the "grill master" and cell phone operator, Bappa for all the help he gives Mark, and Gramma Ginny for watching the kids. We sure couldn't do it without all of you!! Enjoy the pictures.

Here is the 1st sale of the day. This little pig sold for $1500 and was the top seller of the day.

The Auctioneer & BappaThe cell phone operators. We had about 7 guys doing phone bids on the sale so 7 different people had to run cell phones to take their bids. Here is Grampa Mike and myself talking to a guy from Kentucky and from Indiana.

Daddy was pretty happy with everything. Next week he has a sale in Nevada, IA and then Indiana the following week.

Rick Hurd Video

Here is a link to a video of Mark's uncle Rick Hurd singing "I Can Only Imagine". It is really neat. Hopefully one of our kids will get the musical gene the Hurd family has!

Mommy's little helper

Look at mommy's little helper!! Jake Loves to run the swiffer and the vacuum. He will point at the closet they are in and whine until I get them out for him. Let's hope this continues!!

Music Man. Lately Ryan's been playing the guitar and piano. Until his sister comes close then it becomes a weapon.

Weekend Visitors

This weekend we had some very special visitors! First Jen (my friend from ISU) and her baby Jackson came to spend a few hours. Jackson and Jacob played until Jacob needed a nap. Here Jacob is trying to take Jackson's sippy cup.

Then we got to see Sophia. The Simonsen's came to Gramma Ginny's house to spend the weekend. Isn't she a cutie!
Jacob learned a new thing this weekend - how to kiss a girl. Here he is chasing down Sophia to give her a kiss. I was told today at daycare that he was trying out this new skill there today.

Hailey's Basketball game

Today we went over to Storm Lake to watch our cousin Hailey play in a 5th grade bball tournament. She did Great! Their team won the 1st 3 games of the day and were in the championship game this afternoon. We had to get Jacob home for a nap so hopefully they won the last game too!

This was the worst ref I have ever seen. It was a very exciting game, with 2 guys getting kicked out for talking back to the ref. It was a pretty rough game for the girls. But Spencer won! Hailey is there behind the wonderful ref...
Great pass Hailey!

While we were in Storm Lake, Ryan went with daddy and had a really fun day. He ran the skidloader at Bappa's, looks like they had a calf today and built a snowman!
