2010 World Pork Expo

2010 WPX Grand Champion Spot Barrow!!

Congratulations to Ashley who did a great job showing. Check out the trophy that she won.
The kids got 2 - 2nd place, 2 - 3rd place and 1 - 4th place ribbon. It was a very good expo.
Here's Ryan getting his pigs ready to show.

This one is his favorite
They really can get along!
Here's #877 Ryan Hurd getting ready to enter the ring. Notice daddy still prepping the pig for the show.
Taking control of his pig.
This was the first year we have shown a cross. There was A LOT of competition.
There was standing room only at this show. As I was standing in the back behind a group of guys, I overheard them talking about #877 and what a fantastic job he was doing showing his pig. They said he was very intense and was doing great. I was a proud mom!
Jacob getting his pig ready to show. He chickened out at the last minute so Ash had to take his place. (I don't blame him, I would've done the same thing)
Here's Ash getting her pig ready.
She did an amazing job showing! It is so neat to see how much they learn each year.
So daddy left us at the hotel Thursday night to go back home and sell pigs. We all went swimming and had a great time anyway.
Then we spent the day on Friday at the Zoo!!
Here's Ryan feeding the fish.
Riding the train around the zoo.
Ashley and the pink flamingos from Africa.
Oh my - an alligator! Jacob thought he was going to come through the glass and wouldn't go near it.

Surprise!!

On Memorial Day Weekend we had a surprise birthday party for Great Grandma Shirley. The surprise was almost on us though because we told her to come to my house to go to Ashley's vocal program in Cleghorn but she never showed up. When I called her she was shopping at the Dollar General Store! She had completely forgotten. So she was a little late but completely surprised!
Happy 75th Birthday Grandma Shirley! We love you!

Gone Fishing

Fishing
Over the weekend daddy took the boat and the kids down Mill Creek to do some fishing.
Here they are unloading at the bridge.

Ryan - very excited to go fishing!

Jacob was excited to go too!

There they go down Mill Creek! Jacob was crying and asking for his mommy. I think he was pretty scared after getting in the water. It was hard to leave hearing him ask for me!

Here's the beautiful view.

Then on Monday night we joined a few thousand biting bugs and went fishing at the river and Dog Creek. Here's Jacob and Daddy fishing together.

Ryan and Ash fishing together and not punching each other (at this particular moment anyway).

Isn't he cute!
Fishing at the river.
This doesn't happen very often!

We all had a really great time fishing. If it wasn't for the bugs it would have been perfect!
