Barn Quilt

For Grandma Terry's Christmas present The Boothby's and us got her a barn quilt. Grampa Mike (Bunt's Barn Quilts) made it for us and a couple of weekends ago we got it hung up. The design was one Grandma Terry came up with - we think it looks great!!
Here's Bappa and Grampa Mike getting ready to hang the barn quilt.
Up it goes!

4th of July 2008

4th of July Weekend
We had a wonderful weekend. It started with Daddy taking Ash & Ryan in the boat down Millcreek. They had lots of fun and no one ended up in the water this year.

Then there was a Hurd Family Reunion. That afternoon there was a picnic and the kids had a ball. They had a water slide, gator, 4wheeler, and even horse carriage rides. Here's Ryan having a great time on the water slide.
Daddy and Pete paired up and were the Corn Hole Champions.
Jacob was not too sure about getting close to the horse.
Ashley and Mason getting a ride.Jacob lounging at the picnic.

On Saturday night everyone met at the Bacon Aquatic Center in Cherokee. Here is Jacob and Mason sharing a chair. And here is Ryan and Tyler. It was a great weekend.

Ashley's Softball Team

Here is Ashley's softball team. They had their tournament on Saturday and got 1st place!! They beat Hinton and Kingsley. Great job girls!
Ashley is in the 2nd row, white visor.
Here's the gold medal they each got for getting 1st place in the tournament.
And this is what Jacob did to occupy his time while Ashley was playing. We try to keep him in the car for as long as possible because we can't keep up with him when we let him loose outside. Then he screams and cries when we try to keep him sitting and watching the game.
I know - not the smartest thing in the world to do letting him swing on the steering wheel but I guess what ever works...

2008 World Pork Expo

2008 World Pork Expo in Des Moines

Ashley and Ryan got to show pigs for the 1st time. Even Honey got to go for a couple of days. Ashley got 2nd, 5th and 8th place. Ryan got 9th place. Daddy got Grand Champion Spot Boar and Reserve Champ Duroc. His boar sold for $9000 to a boar stud and another boar stud followed him home on Saturday and bought 3 more. Daddy was pretty happy.
Here's Ryan with his pig. He got pretty attached to him. He didn't want his pig to have to go to the truck and be taken away.
Ashley showing her Duroc

I took the kids to the Machine Shed for dinner one night. We had a great meal!

Ryan Baseball Pictures

This is Ryan's 1st year of baseball. Daddy is the coach and mommy helps in the dugout. We have found that the boys are a little more challenging to coach than the girls. They have a lot of energy.
Here's Ryan before his 1st game.
And here's the team. Did I mention they are full of energy...
Ready for the ball.
